Banner Advertising:
One of the most effective ways to advertise your site is with
banner advertising. If you don't already have a banner, you can order one
from Kinfolk Crafts for a small fee. You should have at least 3 different size banners:
- 468 x 60 pixels banner
- 125 x 125 pixels banner
- 88 x 31 pixels for Plug Boards
Once you have a banner, you can start to exchange banners with other sites similar to yours, or join a Top 100 Craft Site report. Banner exchanges are similar to link exchanges,
only instead of a text link, your banner is placed on the other party's site in
exchange for you placing their banner on your site. You may want
to devote a page just to banner exchanges so that you don't clutter up the rest
of your site.
Although it may not seem like a good idea to link to another site, especially if they sell similar products, you really need to do this to make your site successful. Your traffic rating will depend a large part on how many relevant sites link to you. Networking with other sites will also help build traffic. See if you can find another site with similar traffic and contact them about becoming a Link Partner. A Link Partner will not only add your banner, but will place links or banners to your site in prominent places all around their site in exchange for reciprocation on your site.
